#3 you can only start your dream life when you've accepted where you are

and here's how you do it

first, a story on acceptance

Two weeks ago (five weeks by the time I got it edited and posted), we lost the baby. And yet—I’m laughing again. I’m smiling. I’m present. But everything is different.

As I've been reflecting, I realized this past week has been a side quest as well as an exercise in “you are here” on the treasure map.

But first, we need to go back to 2020… I rejected the idea of “you are here” on the map. I was so hyper-focused on where I wanted to go that I denied myself the space to acknowledge where I was.

I was struggling with burnout, anxiety, and insomnia, despite having achieved everything I had ever wanted.

It was like a record on repeat. A tune of you are not enough played so loudly I couldn’t hear myself think—let alone feel. The record driving external validation.

I was craving self-acceptance, but I only knew how to find it externally.

I couldn't plot “you are here on the map” because I couldn't accept who I was.

Over time, I learned that I wasn’t alone. I heard this tune again and again from friends. Coworkers. Clients.

“I’m afraid of being judged.”
“I’m afraid of failure.”
“I have to be perfect.”
“I need to provide value—constantly.”
“I’m not [fill in the blank] enough.”

It torments all of us. This invisible yet pervasive experience of being human.
And it evoked the question…

How is it that we’re all plagued by this plight, yet we pretend it doesn’t exist?

So, I set out to find an answer. And I found it within.

I found it in embodied self-compassion.
Sitting with myself.
Connecting with my body.
The sensations.
Acknowledging what I was feeling.
Reminding myself I wasn’t alone.
Thanking myself for trying to protect myself.
Requesting what I need to be kinder to myself.
And offering loving touch.

An invitation to accept myself—from the inside out—so I could finally accept where I was.

My “you are here.”

And through that process, I learned something powerful…

Embodied self-compassion gives us permission.
Permission to show up without needing to fix or perform.
To hear the quiet wisdom our bodies have been whispering all along.
To grow—not by pushing forward, but by grounding ourselves in truth.
To speak honestly, even when the words are shaky.
To let our guard down, knowing that softness is not weakness—it’s courage.

And that brings us back to the present.

In the grief, I gave myself that same permission.

To arrive—messy, raw, and real.
To rest when my body asked.
To let healing be slow and nonlinear.
To say what was true without suppressing it.
To lean into vulnerability and let others meet me there.

And in doing so, I could see where I was on the map—and know that I wasn’t alone. Because when we finally allow ourselves to be here, we stop needing to outrun the moment.

We stop escaping—and start choosing.
Presence.
Compassion.
Clarity.

As one friend said, “Estamos con vosotros. No podemos sacar la oscuridad pero podemos iluminar un poco el lugar donde estáis.”

“We’re with you. We can’t take away the darkness, but we can illuminate where you are.”

Isn’t that what we all need sometimes?
So wherever you are on your map—
You’re not lost.
You’re not behind.

You are exactly where you need to be.

now, the coaching part

I had a lot of fun creating. It was also hard. This was the third version.

Reminding me that my “you are here” when it comes to content creation is at the very beginning.

And it’s been cool to give myself permission to learn and be bad at it in the process. Now, it’s time to find your “you are here” on your treasure map.

So pause and grab a piece of paper. Got it?

Let’s draw your treasure map. Mark your “X.” And now, it’s time to plot your starting point.

Pull up your notion vision crafting and go to “I am here.”

The goal of this charting your starting point isn’t perfection. It’s about presence—how you currently feel about each dimension of your life.

Using the Starting Point Wheel worksheet or right in the Starting Point column, assign how satisfied you are with that dimension (1 = very unsatisfied and 5= very satisfied).

Super important—five doesn’t mean ‘done.’ It means ‘deeply satisfied—and ready to keep growing.’

A lot of my clients don’t want to put a 5 because they’re afraid that it means it can’t improve or change.

For example, I have a 5 for Love. I’m so satisfied with this dimension. That said, I know that Chinmay and I will continue to deepen our relationship. It will get even better. That’s what will keep my rating at a five. If we stopped putting energy into deepening our relationship, my rating would go down in the future.

After you rate them, look for any trends, surprises, or new perspectives you’ve gained from the exercise. Take a moment to see how it feels in your body to acknowledge where you are. Pause and rate each dimension now.

Alright, got ‘em? Fabulous.

If something stirred in you today, write it down—or share it in the comments. Insight only integrates when we witness it.

Now, grab your map.
Draw your “You are here.”
Now, I’d like to invite you to close your eyes (the video is better for this part).

Start by finding the breath that’s right for you. Not too fast. Not too slow. Just the right amount of air at just the right tempo.

You’ll know when you’ve found the breath that’s right for you when you feel a sense of relief or release in the body. If you don't notice anything at all, that's okay too.

Say aloud, “I am here.”

Take a moment to notice.
What sensations do you feel in your body?
Where do you feel them?
What insights might they be offering?

When you’re ready, open your eyes and come back to our shared space.

To wrap up, share in the comments one insight or takeaway you’ve gotten from this article/video.
